In Attitudinal Psyche, two sets of type-groups have been hitherto identified: Clubs and Sextas. A Club is composed of 4 Types that share self-positive Attitudes and conversely also share self-negative Attitudes. For example, LVFE, VLFE, VLEF, and LVEF all have self-positive Logic and Volition and conversely all have self-negative Physics and Emotion. A Sexta is composed of 4 Types that share Result-Oriented Attitudes and conversely share Process-Oriented Attitudes. For example, LVFE, LFVE, EVFL, and EFVL all have Results-Oriented Logic and Emotion and conversely all have Process-Oriented Volition and Physics.
Another angle to identify these groups would be to look at Functions. Functions are relations between two Attitudes within a Type:
- Lifepath 1<>2 (Club)
- Growing Edge 1<>3 (New Group)
- Resolution 1<>4 (Sexta)
- Construction 2<>3 (Sexta)
- Insight 2<>4 (New Group)
- Outsource 3<>4 (Club)
Clubs share Aspect combinations (Blocks) in the 1st and 6th functions. Sextas share Aspects combinations (Blocks) in the 3rd and 4th Functions. I noticed that the 2nd and 5th Functions however do not yet have an explicitly described set of groups.
Another way to identify the new groups is to look at a Type’s 1st and 3rd or 2nd and 4th Attitudes. Types that share odd Aspects (and conversely even Aspects) are in the same group. For example, LVFE, LEFV, FELV, and FVLE all have F & L in the odd Positions and conversely have V & E in the even Positions.
The Type Relations composing this newly identified group are Identity, Customary, Conflict, and Specificity. Like Clubs and Sextas these relations are symmetrical. The overall valence of relations within groups of the new set is neutral to negative, whereas within Clubs relations are neutral to positive, and within Sextas they are positive.
The 2nd and 5th Functions represent two extremes within a Type:
The growing edge function contains the most vulnerable, subjective, and specialized part of the ego.
– Growing Edge
The insight function contains the most accepting, open-ended, and fearless part of the ego.
– Insight
There are commonalities within the new groups despite the rocky network of relations that they comprise. I think if we can admit that Faux-Identical relations have a sort of outward commonality, then we can admit that Conflict relations also have something in common. In the former’s case, it is a commonality of interests and the role that a Type will tend to play in society because the self disposition dichotomy influences what a Type believes to be their proper sphere of activity. In the case of the latter, it is the others disposition dichotomy that is the determinant.
How exactly to describe this set of groups is not yet clear. I was considering the notion that Sextas are akin to tribes, Clubs are akin to roles, and that perhaps the new groups are akin to…?
Well, for now here are the groups and their members:
VELF, VFLE, LFVE, LEVF:
Protective regarding Expertise/Strategy; Receptive regarding Enjoyment/Excitement.
These Types are guarded and hesitant about their expertise and their future plans. On the other hand, they are open and relaxed about festivities and entertainment.
VEFL, VLFE, FLVE, FEVL:
Protective regarding Control/Adaptation; Receptive regarding Education/Artistry.
These Types are protective about decisions regarding resource distribution and power. However, regarding the communication of ideas they are easy-going and open-minded.
VLEF, VFEL, EFVL, ELVF:
Protective regarding Motivation/Inspiration; Receptive regarding Precision/Logistics.
These Types are closed off and aggressive when it comes to the interpersonal “big-picture” and spiritual transformation. But in regards to the logical details and technical side of things, they are at ease and unguarded.
FLEV, FVEL, EVFL, ELFV:
Protective regarding Enjoyment/Excitement; Receptive regarding Expertise/Strategy.
These Types are fussy and opinionated about festivities and entertainment. In contrast, they are open-minded about planning and negotiating how the future will develop.
LFEV, LVEF, EVLF, EFLV:
Protective regarding Education/Artistry; Receptive regarding Control/Adaptation. These Types are skeptical about how others articulate emotions and convey ideas. But when it comes to displays of physical power and the delegation of responsibilities they are relaxed and open.
LVFE, LEFV, FELV, FVLE:
Protective regarding Precision/Logistics; Receptive regarding Motivation/Inspiration.
These Types are quite pushy and sensitive about structure and detail in the physical world. On the other hand, they are incredibly receptive and open with others about spiritual development and inner potential.
The way in which this lines up with the subjective and objective dichotomy is quite interesting
